Mercer County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., Adult Day Care Center is a State-licensed program and operates in partnership with Primary Health Network, and in conjunction with the Shenango Valley Senior Community Center. The Adult Day Care Program is supervised by Agency nursing staff and activity aides. Through the Adult Day Care Program, the Agency strives to improve the quality of life for individuals with functional impairments who are enrolled in the program. The program provides an alternative to institutionalization as it promotes and supports the individual’s abilities to function within the community by offering day services in a safe setting to older adults with disabilities. The program also provides respite for the individual’s caregivers.
Participants in the Adult Day Care Program are given an individual assessment and a program plan is developed to maximize his/her capabilities. Services will vary according to each individual’s program plan.
Instruction and assistance with activities of daily living, including toileting, bathing, feeding, and transferring.
Quarterly nursing services are available to provide health screenings, health education with recommendations for dietary needs, medication procedure reviews when necessary, and recommendations for personal care procedures.
Services are provided to individuals and/or their caregivers to help with personal/family adjustment situations and to enhance the effectiveness of the individual’s program plan.
