Family Caregiver Support Program
The Agency assists families in assessing their needs when taking care of older relatives who are 60 years of age or older.
Services include benefits advice and counseling where caregivers are advised of benefits that are available to them.
Through a cost-sharing approach, families may receive up to $200 per month to help them with out-of-pocket expenses ranging from respite care, personal assistive devices, to paying for supplies such as adult briefs.
Modifications can be made to the home such as installing stair climbs, building ramps, or modifying the bathroom.
Qualifying families can receive grants up to $2,000 for these modifications to make the home more livable for the frail elderly.
An important feature of the Caregiver program is that it allows the caregiver to choose the service most needed to help care for the older relative at home.
The Agency also offers a monthly support group for caregivers to discuss, learn and share with others in similar situations.
